William Hopoate is the son of former footballer John Hopoate. He has made a total of 99 appearances in the NRL, with 18 of them being in 2017. During that year he recorded 3 tries, 64 tackle breaks, 10 try assists and a total of 3207 running metres.
During 2012 and 2013, Will left the NRL to go on a two-year mission for his Mormon faith. Prior to his departure, William played a starring role in the NRL at the tender age of 19, scoring 14 tries in just 22 appearances to help his club at the time, Manly, win the premiership.
His representative honours include representing NSW, marking his debut with a try. This was achieved at the age of 18, making him the second youngest player to ever play for NSW behind Brad Fittler.
Upon his return to the NRL in 2014, Will has been effective in getting back to his best, including being immediately selected for State of Origin. He also played in the City Origin side, with his last gasp try proving to be the match leveller.
Will is looking for his best season yet and is determined to make the NSW State of Origin side once again. Best of luck to Will for 2018.
